Graduation Day: The Inspirational Journey of Yowana Kreatif Students’ Batch 2

April 30th, 2024, marks the end of the extraordinary journey of the Yowana Kreatif Batch 2 Scholarship Program. After undergoing a 9-month learning process (August 2023 - April 2024), eight students, consisting of three males and five females aged 18-22, have completed their education at the Karuna Bali Foundation (KBF). This moment was celebrated with a meaningful graduation ceremony.

Over the past 9 months, the students were likened to seeds that were continuously nurtured to grow and thrive. They were intensively guided and facilitated to recognize their strengths and weaknesses, build confidence in communication, understand their qualities and values, and enhance social awareness through community projects. Additionally, their skills in English, Computer, and Audio Video Editing were honed. All of these were packaged in a Soft Skill and Hard Skill development program.

This graduation ceremony carried the theme “A Journey of Self-Discovery and Growth.” This theme conveys the message that graduation is not the end of the journey, but the beginning of a true-life journey.

The graduation process was simple yet solemn, witnessed by parents, partners where the students had their training, foundation administrators, and several other invited guests. Representatives of Yowana Kreatif students, namely Fina, Chandra, and Adnyana, were invited to deliver graduation speeches and share their experiences during the 9 months of learning. The other students also presented a special performance by singing and dancing together.

One of the most touching moments was the screening of a thank-you video from the students to the facilitators, parents, and donors. Many people in the Open Heart room could not hold back their tears. Another memorable moment was when the sibling of one of the students spoke about the incredible change she saw in her brother. Before joining Yowana Kreatif, her brothers was a shy person. However, in a short time, she saw that her brother become a confident person speaking in public and performing dance confidently. “This is an extraordinary growth,” she concluded.

The mentoring process carried out by Yowana Kreatif aims to prepare students to make their next life choices. By recognizing their qualities and values, having environmental awareness, and confidence in communication, the students now have a solid foundation to determine their future. They have more flexible options, whether to enter the work field directly or continue their education at university.

Congratulations to all the alumni. Best wishes in applying the skills you have trained over the past 9 months in real life. May you succeed in every life choice you make. (ge)
