Living Values Education Workshop: Harmonizing Values in Life

In the midst of the dynamism of modern life, we often forget to pause and reflect on the fundamental values that guide the way we live, think, and interact. Through two Living Values Education (LVE) Workshops organized by Karuna Bali Foundation through Capung Melajah - Life Skill Department in June and October 2024, participants are invited to reconnect with themselves and to live the values within themselves that may have been ignored for a long time.
This workshop presents methods that were designed to explore, live, and implement universal values such as Peace, Respect, Love,Tolerance, Honesty, Humility, Cooperation, Happiness, Responsibility, Simplicity, Freedom, Unity, and any other values that participants feel are important. Participants not only learn about theory, but also practice these values in interactive and reflective activities that create a lasting experience for them.
The Profound Impact of LVE Workshops on Participants
For some participants, the workshop was a heartfelt emotional journey. “I felt very happy, peaceful, and calm. Before getting to know LVE, I didn't really pay much attention to values and their meanings. However, afterwards I realized the importance of being aware of these values in life,” said Ni Luh Putu Mahayani, a participant.
Some participants felt reconnected with their inner child, rediscovering the simple joys that are often ignored. “’My Tree’ (values activity) session brought me to a rare moment of meeting my little self who missed playing,” said Jero Jemiwi, another participant.
Memorable Sessions that Lived the Value
Sessions like Conflict Resolution, Active Listening, Value Awareness, Rekindling the Dream, and Values Activity: My Tree were the participants favorites. This activity helps participants understand how to deal with conflict calmly, listen attentively, and respect themselves and others. “The conflict resolution session made me realize the importance of being an impartial mediator, while the My Tree (values activity) session helped me see positive qualities in myself that I had previously ignored,” said a participant.
Other activities, such as creating a Peace Capsule and reflecting, provided freedom of expression that stimulated participants' creativity. They experience each session as a collaboration that explores the positive values within themselves.

Togetherness That Leaves a Mark
In addition to presenting meaningful material, the atmosphere of the workshop also created a sense of safety, comfort, and compassion among the participants. Participants felt like they were at home, with the warmth and togetherness of the facilitators and fellow participants. The openness and close relationships created during the workshop were one of the most enjoyable aspects for the participants.
Both workshops not only provided participants with new insights but also motivated them to apply those values in their daily lives. From dealing with workplace conflicts to providing more meaningful relationships with close ones, LVE workshops are an inspirational guide to life.
With the profound experience and high enthusiasm of the participants, the workshop proved that values are not only a guideline but also bring harmony to life. In the future, Karuna Bali Foundation hopes to continue to organize programs like this, spread the values to more people, and create a more peaceful and compassionate world.
